(Above) On February 12, 2004, British electronic game manufacturer Sports Interactive announced an international competition to design a logo for their upcoming title "Football Manager 2005." With a winning prize of 10,000 British pounds (roughly $18,000), the contest attracted considerable attention from graphic designers around the globe; indeed, at the close of the contest on April 8th, Sports Interactive estimated that their had been over 5,000 entries!

As an avid soccer fan, the competition certainly seemed "the best of all possible worlds." And since contestants were allowed to submit as many entries as they wanted, I ended up sending in over sixty separate designs, as well as several mock-ups of potential packaging designed to showcase the prospective logos. The artwork above is from this body of work.
